The Necklace

When it comes to jewelry, my position is pretty much the same as with clothing: less, but better.
I used to wear tons of jewelry on a daily basis, as much as I could possibly hang onto my body;
while that seemed fun to me back then, the mere thought of it gives me the creeps now.
So much clutter - no, thanks!
I've come to appreciate designs that are simple yet strong, striking, and stand-alone.

These days, I actually go without adornment more often than not.
I just don't subscribe anymore to the cliché that every outfit needs to be "completed" with jewelry.
When I do wear a piece, it's most often something industrial and usually a DIY.
However, from time to time I stumble upon a design that just screams "me",
like in the case of this marvelous necklace by ATUKO.
Thanks so much for this wonderful gift that I'll surely be wearing for many years to come!

The Light

After a period of slightly depressing weather, today was a wonderful, sunlit day that brought along some spring vibes I've been yearning for and instantly uplifted my mood. At first I thought the strong sunlight and the shadows it cast would interfere with shooting these photos, but they turned out just right. I intentionally restrained myself from too much editing and left some photos uncropped, even skewed; these little "imperfections" made me smile.

P. S. Yes, this is a gray version of my black split front skirt (worn here). I learned that when you really like, want, and need an item, it might be a smart idea to get it in another color, too (or, in my case, in another non-color).

The Colors

This is me wearing colors (and attempting to be witty).

Winter has been nice to us so far - these days feel more like early spring, so my light coat is back in the game, along with a sweater that used to be my boyfriend's. I've been wanting a soft, just slightly oversized grey sweater since the beginning of fall; turns out a perfect one was sitting in his closet all along, and he actually wanted to get rid of it. I just love it when the stars align like this.

Warmed Up

The weather has been awfully nice to us these days, so I happily took advantage of what was most likely the last chance for bare legs before all hell breaks loose (a.k.a. winter). Whereas I would quite possibly deem this outfit plain, maybe even downright boring, a couple of years ago, I find simple cuts in black and white oh-so beautiful, even soothing now, like it's the only natural thing for me to wear, plus getting dressed has never been so simple. No need to stack on loads of jewelry either, my DIY necklace is more than enough. Oh, and I love it how the bandage over my bruised knee doubles as an instant accessory.

Anti-Shopping

Did I mention my aversion to regular shopping yet? That said, obtaining new (or not so new) stuff to wear from time to time is inevitable, and this outfit actually illustrates some of my favorite ways of doing that: buying second hand, customizing, reusing old, sometimes even forgotten items, and only buying new when it's really necessary (or when I'm so delighted with an item that I'm positive I'll get a great deal of use from it). I bought this turtleneck tee at my favorite second hand shop. The pants used to be my mom's; she decided it was time to let them go this summer and apart from being too short, they fit me perfectly, so I just had them shortened some more and turned into cropped pants. The jacket is another thing that got passed on from my mom to me and then to a friend, and after several years it found its way back to me this year; I gladly embraced it due to its color, quilted texture, and the neoprene-like fabric. The boots were a gift from another friend who noticed them on my wishlist and gave them to me for my birthday last year. It was a "love at first sight" kind of affair; I liked them immediately and knew I'd wear them constantly (which I did and still do). The bag is second hand, too (bought on eBay), while the necklace is something I had bought a long time ago and found it in my jewelry stash during a recent purge.

DIY: Corner Coupling Necklace

When I announced "the easiest DIY necklace ever" last November, even I didn't expect it would take me almost a year to set aside precious 15 seconds of my time and actually make the damned thing. All I had to do, really, was to remove that beautiful metal piece (apparently, it's called corner coupling) from its package and put it on a string that I had cut off from an old, worn out bikini; I didn't even bother attaching a clasp, the ends are simply tied together at the back of the neck. Here it is in all its industrial glory.

Anticipating Spring

Being absolutely tired of this sweater weather, including the highly unpleasant grey skies and remnants of snow, I've been seeking comfort in producing awkward little sketches and notes about what I want to wear this spring and summer. Like every year, I can't wait for the day when I can put away my coats and transform those wishes into reality.

Fuzzy

It would be a massive untruth to say that I'm happy to be home again, but there's not much I can do about it, so let's get back on track. (Double fuzziness - hat and top - not intended.)

Playing Favorites

Favorite boots, favorite bag, favorite sunglasses ... and another old-as-fuck dress that has found its way back into my closet.

Quiet Storm

I don't have much to say these days (or maybe I'm just too lazy to put my thoughts into words), so I'll just let the photos speak for themselves. Hear them out.
