The Great Grays

#1 - I'm quite fond of wearing gray in spring (as previously demonstrated here and here).

#2 - Second hand has been my preferred way of shopping for several years now;
it's fun, inexpensive, sustainable, and from time to time you can find some real gems,
like this perfect little black backpack (just what I was looking for) for a few euros.

#3 - Thanks to Hold the Eggplant for saying some very nice stuff about me here.

The 2014

The year in passing was marked by black and white in my closet
and colors on my plate - just the way I like it.
Looking forward to new adventures and wishing you the same!

The Coat

After a period of frantic, nerve-wracking, and ultimately unsuccessful searching for a winter coat
that would meet at least the most important, if not all of my criteria,
I ended up having it custom-made.

The project was taken on by BeeZee EcoKid, a Slovenian-owned vegan brand
with a set of principles that can be summed up as ethical.
Seriously, there are so many nice things to be said about them that I don't know where to start.
To emphasize the qualities that resonate with me the most,
their designs are vegan, fair trade, exploitation-free, organic and non-toxic, sustainable, and made locally.

I'm very happy with the way my coat looks and feels, but there's also an added value -
knowing it was made without doing harm gives me a certain sense of contentment and peace of mind.

The Necklace

When it comes to jewelry, my position is pretty much the same as with clothing: less, but better.
I used to wear tons of jewelry on a daily basis, as much as I could possibly hang onto my body;
while that seemed fun to me back then, the mere thought of it gives me the creeps now.
So much clutter - no, thanks!
I've come to appreciate designs that are simple yet strong, striking, and stand-alone.

These days, I actually go without adornment more often than not.
I just don't subscribe anymore to the cliché that every outfit needs to be "completed" with jewelry.
When I do wear a piece, it's most often something industrial and usually a DIY.
However, from time to time I stumble upon a design that just screams "me",
like in the case of this marvelous necklace by ATUKO.
Thanks so much for this wonderful gift that I'll surely be wearing for many years to come!

The Business-As-Usual

While my warm-season outfits might seem monotonous or repetitive to some (most?) people,
they get even less varied in fall/winter. On a rather warm fall day (like today),
I'll normally go for a black sweatshirt or a thin turtleneck, a black bottom, and a coat;
on the footwear front, nothing beats my #1 sneakers.

The Indian Summer

Yeah, that's an insanely original post title, but who cares when the weather is so blissful?
Happily wearing my "superhero top" by Arya Sense.

The Sneaker

Sneaking around town in my early fall uniform, with my new DIY bracelet in tow.

The Layers

Early fall layering: trench coat over dress over skirt.
Hanging on to bare legs and/or bare toes whenever possible (i.e., not raining too heavily).

The Rotation

Even with a fairly limited selection of clothing items in black and white only,
the outfit possibilities seem to be endless.

I haven't been wearing much jewelry these days;
some armor on my left wrist felt like a welcome change.
Thanks to Front Row Shop for kindly sending me this cuff bracelet.

The Cold Feet

With the coldest, rainiest summer I can remember nearing its end,
I'm longing for sunshine while wearing thick tops and layers.
(Nevertheless, I'm not giving up sandals just yet ...)

The Backpacker

I've been gravitating towards as-simple-as-possible, somewhat androgynous looks these days.
Boyfriend's backpack instead of a bag meets the criteria perfectly.
[ plus, it's really handy for carrying my fruit around :D ]
