Even with a fairly limited selection of clothing items in black and white only,

the outfit possibilities seem to be endless.

I haven't been wearing much jewelry these days;
some armor on my left wrist felt like a welcome change.

The Return

Feeling like a total n00b after not having blogged for almost a month

The Ease

Here's how getting dressed works for me these days (today's example):
I open up the wardrobe, grab a sweater and some pants,
mentally pair the ensemble with the right shoes and bag,
and all that's left for me to do is to put the items on various parts of my body
(which might even take up more time than the actual process of "composing" the outfit*).

* about 15 seconds today

The Foil Cuff

This cuff is a product of my long-time fascination with silver foil, combined with my affinity for simplicity (whether it's outfits, nails, or DIY).

You will need: a cuff bracelet, some silver foil, scissors, and some super glue or clear adhesive tape.

Cut a piece of silver foil about 3 cm longer than the circumference of your bracelet and about 3 cm wider than twice its width. Put the bracelet in the middle of the foil rectangle, then wrap the foil around it carefully, turning down the edges to the inside of the cuff and gluing them in place with super glue or adhesive tape.

The Light

After a period of slightly depressing weather, today was a wonderful, sunlit day that brought along some spring vibes I've been yearning for and instantly uplifted my mood. At first I thought the strong sunlight and the shadows it cast would interfere with shooting these photos, but they turned out just right. I intentionally restrained myself from too much editing and left some photos uncropped, even skewed; these little "imperfections" made me smile.

P. S. Yes, this is a gray version of my black split front skirt (worn here). I learned that when you really like, want, and need an item, it might be a smart idea to get it in another color, too (or, in my case, in another non-color).

The Two-Face Nails

After two-face shoes, here are two-face nails. The second photo demonstrates how it's done: paint your nails white (I used a random nail polish I had at home, but I hear Purity by Zoya is good, plus their products are vegan), wait for the polish to dry thoroughly, cover half of each nail with adhesive tape, and paint the other half with chrome silver nail polish. If you feel this color combination is too subtle for you, use a black nail polish instead of white to create more contrast (or combine any other colors of your choice).

The Dotted Nails

I'm not one for complicated manicures that take the whole day and a fuckton of tools to make just so you can wear that shit for a couple of days before it inevitably wears off. This is simple and effective, takes about five minutes (drying time included), and the only thing you will need (apart from the polishes, obviously) is a flat top wooden toothpick to make those dots. Now excuse me while I go procrastinate on the interwebz to waste all that saved time.

DIY: Two-Face Shoes

I've been meaning to do some DIY work for ages and today I finally got down to business. I had just recently bought a can of chrome silver acrylic spray paint, so I decided to use it on an old pair of black mid-heel pumps I haven't really worn this last year or two.

The original plan was to spray all over the shoes, but then I remembered those easy two-tone platforms by LOVE AESTHETICS and decided to try something similar. If I get bored with the 50/50 thing, I'll just go on and spray the other half of the shoe, too.

Here's the result:

The procedure is relatively simple; it can get messy though, so good preparation is essential.

You will need:

- a pair of shoes

- acrylic spray paint

- adhesive tape and some waste paper for protection

- protective gloves (optional, but highly recommended)

- cotton pads/swabs and nail polish remover (optional, unless you're a klutz like me)

How to do it:

1. Make sure the surface of the shoes is clean and dry. Use adhesive tape (the one I used is a bit porous and therefore not ideal; I don't recommend anything too sticky either) and waste paper to protect the parts of the shoe you don't want colored and the surroundings. Push the tape down with your fingertips to make sure it sticks to the surface.

2. Get spraying! It's not a bad idea to use protective gloves. Shake the can thoroughly and always spray from a distance (about 20-25 cm), holding the can in a vertical position. Spraying from too close will result in a thick layer of paint that will be hard to dry.

3. If necessary, soak a cotton pad in nail polish remover and clean out the areas that shouldn't have got color on them. (Caution: it might damage the surface of the shoe. In my case, it gave the shoes a nice matte finish.) For small corrections, use a cotton swab. I deliberately left out some minor imperfections for a more "organic" feel. That's it!

Black Is The New Floral

I attended a really cool event yesterday:

The April edition of Art Dialogue presents two interesting, increasingly prominent and particularly creative young ladies who have been making their own marks both at the domestic as well as international fashion scene – the fashion blogger Eva Domijan and fashion designer Janja Videc. Their talk will touch upon the local fashion scene, the future of fashion industry as well as what they like to do most – create.

The lovely ladies entertained us with their well prepared, intelligent, interesting and refreshing dialogue. To more such events!

I wore mainly black. Surprising? Three factors contributed to that:

• I have "nothing to wear" (not literally, of course; I do have things to wear, but most of them fail to impress me). As I was standing desperately in front of my open wardrobe while time was passing by, these pants and this blouse came to the rescue.
• As much as I'm into floral prints, their omnipresence is becoming slightly nauseating.
• While (too much) black can make me depressed in winter, I don't mind it in friendlier seasons. I still prefer it combined with (a) vivid color(s), like the electric blue coat I added here.
